BE VERY VERY CAREFUL before you decide to empty the pool OR inground spa. We have had a wet season with an increase in the water table making it entirely possible that the pool will float out of the ground, bottom may hump up if fibreglass, or cave in if above ground. Modular pools, the liner will float and shrink if you empty it.
The issue with spas inground is that when they "pop" all the plumbing and jets are smashed off, NEVER leave any inground pool. spa, pond empty. I know there is a hydrostatic valve in pools, IT WILL NOT SAVE YOU! too little! I have personally seen concrete pools "pop"
